Jera

Jera: meaning

A process produces results through cycles of work and review. Measuring too early may hide real changes.

Symbols and details in the image

Notice the sign ᛃ: two separate angles facing across a diagonal, inside a fine circle. Which detail catches your attention first? Explore the image and connect that detail with your question: gestures, shapes and contrasts open up new associations.

Jera: interpretation

What observation period suits a task, and which sign will you record at each review?

A reading step by step

Explore the three positions of Elder Futhark runes with this example. Place the images in the stated order and follow each row’s ideas. Then connect the three themes: how does the perspective change from one position to the next?

• First element · Jera: A process produces results through cycles of work and review.
• Second element · Eihwaz: Endurance can include changing how a burden is held.
• Third element · Perthro: Uncertainty leaves questions an image cannot resolve on its own.

History and inspiration

The Elder Futhark brings together twenty-four writing signs. This collection presents them in original drawings so you can recognise each rune and compare their shapes. Our present-day readings connect the signs with resources, cooperation and taking a pause, beginning with your question.
