Fox

Fox: meaning

In Lenormand, the cards speak to one another. One symbol opens a theme and its neighbour expands, specifies or transforms it. Follow the line from left to centre, then centre to right: the order gives the reading rhythm and meaning.

Symbols and details in the image

Notice a reddish-furred fox on a path. Which detail catches your attention first? Explore the image and connect that detail with your question: gestures, shapes and contrasts open up new associations.

Fox: interpretation

Which commitment can be checked in practice before trusting an impression or distrusting somebody?

A reading step by step

Explore the three positions of Lenormand · Jardín de Esperanza with this example. Place the images in the stated order and follow each row’s ideas. Then connect the three themes: how does the perspective change from one position to the next?

• Left · Fox: The Fox invites judgement and attention to detail.
• Centre · Bear: The Bear considers strength, resources and protective responsibility.
• Right · Stars: The Stars help choose points of orientation.

History and inspiration

The British Museum preserves Das Spiel der Hofnung: a thirty-six-card game with a four-page leaflet. It forms part of the history of symbolic card games. In Lenormand · Jardín de Esperanza, relationships between neighbouring cards and each entry’s questions shape our contemporary reading approach.
